EmailTracker 3000

The EmailTracker was a webapplication I built for Mars when I was a contract developer, based in Albury NSW. Mars operates brands such as MasterFoods, Kantong, Whiskas and many other household names, and the department I worked for supported the online campaign and other IT support for their marketing department.

Mars ran a tool which conducted their online e-mail campaigns, but it had a clunky interface and required a lot of manual intervention. For example, we had to manual construct each campaign and were unable to import/export, adjust the queries of their email data or even get reporting on how the campaign was doing. They wanted a way to automate the process.

I inspected the application and found that it used an Access database so it was easy to mount that file and manipulate the data under the covers. From there it was an easy process to construct a webapplication which had the needed features. I built and deployed the application in less than 3 weeks.
